MARTI COLLECTION
De Marti Collection is een kunstverzameling die in de afgelopen veertig jaar bijeen is gebracht door René Marti † en zijn vrouw Doris Marti – Clerici. Puur op intuïtie en smaak hebben zij bij binnen- en buitenlandse galerieën en op veilingen hedendaagse kunst aangekocht. Zo is een collectie ontstaan met werken van zowel Nederlandse als buitenlandse kunstenaars.
René Marti werd in 1973 gevraagd vanuit Zwitserland naar Nederland te komen voor de functie van hoogleraar orthopedische chirurgie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Hij werd – inmiddels ook lid van de Kunstcommissie van het AMC – geïnspireerd door de nieuwe, kunstzinnige omgeving, bevriende galeriehouders en veilinghuizen en werd zodoende een fanatieke verzamelaar.
The Marti Collection is an art collection which has been gathered over the past 40 years by René Marti † and his spouse Doris Clerici. Based on personal intuition and taste they have acquired contemporary art at (inter)national galleries and auction houses. Result is a collection of works from both Dutch and international artists.
In 1973 the Swiss René Marti was asked to come and work as an academic orthopaedic surgeon at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. As member of the Art Commission of the Academic Medical Center he got inspired by his new and artistic environment, by befriended gallery owners and auction houses, and as a result became an enthusiastic art collector.
